Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween!!

We hope all of you out there had a fun and safe night!! We didn't go trick-or-treating this evening, but we did have a blast taking part in the annual parade through town!  All the kids dress up and parade through the nursing home and then up and down main street to all the businesses!  This is an awesome alternative to going door to door because it is warmer out, kids get to bed on time, and it's a blast to see all the kids parading through town!  We are so glad that we both got to be with Kincaid on his first year of offically dressing up and trick-or-treating :)  He did a great job (especially since, until last night, he had refused to keep his dino hat on) given all the walking we did and that we were running into his dinner time :) Love him so much and isn't he just the cutest dinosaur!?!

Adventures with Oma

Kincaid got in a lot of quality time with Oma these last several days!  Wanda traveled to KS to see us Wednesday - Sunday, and we were thrilled to have her!  She and Jon got in late late Wednesday night, but made it safe and sound which is what matters!

That meant that Kincaid got to skip childcare and spend Thursday and Friday with Oma!  While Wanda was here, they had a lot of fun and made the most of their time together! They spent their days going on walks, reading, building blocks, playing with puzzles, finding treasures outdoors, going to the park, playing at the library, and more!  Kincaid also go some fun new gifts from Uncle Jason and Angi: puzzles and a book!  He loves them and we can't wait to read all the farm stories and help Kincaid practice on the new puzzles!  Thursday night, we all went to the FFA soup supper and Goblins Glory event at the school!  The kids had great costumes and we had fun playing a few games before heading home!

Saturday, we spent some good time together as a family, then Jon, Wanda and Kincaid hit up the park and Webster Lake to take in the nice afternoon, while I stayed home and baked some food for the week.  Then we went to dinner, and had a good time reminiscing about the previous days and fun memories we'd made with Bill on their trips to visit us!

We were all sad to not have Bill here taking in the moments and making new memories, but I know that I am super thankful for the number of trips they were able to make to KS and for all the adventures and memories made.  The weekend was hard, but mostly it was good.  Good to move towards healing.  Good to be with family.  Good to be reminded of our blessings.  Good to reflect on our past.  Good to laugh and make memories.  Good to be reminded of the Lord's provision even when we wanted something different.  Good.

Baby Bump @ 18 weeks

With our days flying by, I haven't taken time to document the rapid growth of Baby VK in the same way I did with Kincaid! Yikes!  So, to bring you up to speed on how things are progressing, I'm dedicating this post to Baby :)

He/She is now 18 weeks and the size of a sweet potato and has been moving like crazy!  I've been feeling nudges for the last week or two, and it is the best!  I can't wait for Jon to be able to feel the bumps as well!! I remember how exciting it was to share that with him the first time around, and know it will be again!

Jon has a much crazier schedule this year, traveling to 3 different schools, so he hasn't been able to make it to any of our appointments yet.  However, I have been lucky enough to have Mr. Kincaid along for the last two visits.  He is my little protector and is not afraid to voice his objections to the nurse taking my blood pressure or listening to my pulse with the big scary stethoscope :) At my 14 week appointment, baby's heart rate was 155.  When I went last week, at 17 weeks, the heart rate was 150.  So, votes are flooding in that it will be another boy.  We'll see :) While Jon hasn't been able to make an appointment yet, we did get to FaceTime him last week so he did get to hear baby's heart beat and it was a great distraction for Kincaid :)

They say you tend to show more quickly with baby #2, which I think was true.  However, I don't feel like I'm growing any more quickly than I did with Kincaid.  Here is a little comparison:

Baby #2 @ 18 weeks
Kincaid @ 16 weeks

We'll (yes, both me AND Jon) go on Nov 11th for my 21 week appointment and for a sonogram!  We can't wait to get our first glimpse at this sweet blessing!

Best Buddies

Kincaid got to spend some quality time with his cousin Zayley this weekend!  I wish I could have seen them spending so much time together, but I think these pictures are pretty telling about their time together!
